Third day of my new life

Today is a Wednesday, and the third day at my new job. I was actually able to work from home today, as a couple of the other team members are out of town. With that said, I went and bought a new, old vintage Raleigh road bike! It only cost me $100, and the guy threw in a new seat and new pedals. Rides great! Check it out:

I made some adjustments, but probably have to unwrap the handlebars to adjust the brakes. I don't know how anyone has brakes in this position, almost impossible to grab without letting go of the handlebars...

I also saw these pretty glorious morning glory's on the way to pick up the bike:

Afterwards, I took a bike ride to Trader Joe's and bought two bags of groceries. Riding home was fun. Luckily the new bike has a rack on the back, which I will be strapping a milk crate too with bungee cords when I go food shopping.

Today, most of my work was trying to get webpack integrated into our build so it will be responsible for all Typescript compilation, but am having a hell of a time because the ts-loader isn't playing well with the Typescript config, including @types even though they are excluded in the configuration (but being pulled in because some module is importing them, I think). Will have to stick with the current build for now, utilizing the native tsc compiler, and waiting ~7-8 seconds for any change to recompile and restart the app - grumble!

I also met my landlord for the first time - really nice guy. He comes by every two weeks to clean up the house. I went upstairs and came down an hour later and the kitchen was spotless!

I have three roommates. One is my good friend from home, the other a girl who lives upstairs in her own unit (yeah, not exactly a roommate), and another Italian kid who lives in a room below me. It's so far pretty easy-going, but this Italian guy sprays way too much Axe cologne in the morning and when he goes out at night, literally fills my room, and I'm upstairs! He also smokes cigarettes out front, and the living room window stays open, so it blows in... so far usually when I'm making dinner :\ I think he might be living in a month, if he gets a new job - praying!

So far so good, though! The kitchen is spacious and I'm having a great time cooking every morning and night. My room is very spacious and my plants seem happy! My work associates are awesome guys - 3 Jewish entrepreneurs, and I'm their first hire. They bought me a brand new top of the line Macbook Pro, which will be here soon. It's all very exciting. Our parent company's members and all of us are voting on a new product name for our solution. I put in two suggestions - we'll see where it goes!

Life in a new city is definitely a challenge in adaptation. Boston feels like the higher-ground of the trinity of major cities that I've lived in in the east coast. First, New York for 6 years, then Philadelphia for a year and a half, and now Boston, starting a whole new life and outlook on it. It's teaching me patience and compassion for both myself and others, and to be focused and thankful on my new opportunities. It's a great way to keep a positive outlook on things. Thank you, good people!

Well, I just made some popcorn and am going to watch The Spanish Prisoner before I go to bed. Tomorrow I think I'm meeting up with someone in the morning to buy the new Bose QuietComfort 35 noise cancelling headphones, unopened, but at a discount from Craigslist, though my company will let me expense it as part of my tech budget! Whee!

Goodnight!

Moving to Boston!

I'm moving to Boston tomorrow! I've been invited to engage in a full-time job as a startup's first hire! www.mccoymed.com, making a platform for AI developers to host and publish their solutions to their parties (ie. hospitals).
